Classic Pound Cake with Cream Cheese Glaze

Ingredients

For the cake:

3 cups all-purpose flour

3 cups granulated sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup vegetable shortening

6 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 tsp baking powder

2 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt


For the cream cheese glaze:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

2–3 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the cake: Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a bundt or tube pan.


2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy.


3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.


4. Mix in vanilla. In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk into the batter until smooth.


5. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 75–85 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.


6. Make the glaze: Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Mix until creamy and pourable.


7. Glaze the cake: Pour glaze evenly over cooled cake, letting it drip down the sides.
